Northern California provides the country’s best wines, but Boeger Winery Provides arguable one of the best atmospheres to enjoy it. Every Friday night you can indulge in this heady atmosphere of wine by the glass or by the bottle, beautiful picnic grounds, and a gorgeous backdrop of the California sunset.
Bring friends, family, or loved ones to enjoy Boeger Winery wines as well as the recently opened Heyday Café for some wood fired oven pizzas.
The picnic grounds are open every Friday from 6pm to 9pm. Make sure you get there early, as the gates will close once the parking lot is full. There is a $5.00 admission fee per car. More Information: http://www.boegerwinery.com

If you’re looking for some good hiking, I have two trail suggestions this week. The first one is the hike to Black Hole of Calcutta Falls. This is an easy, leisurely hike of 2.1 miles through wispy forest that ends at the breathtaking Calcutta Falls. Calcutta Falls flows year-round and is an excellent place to take a stroll and have a picnic in the warm California sun.
For those of you who are looking for a more strenuous hike, I recommend . The hike is a lengthy eight miles filled with constant elevation changes, which make the hike so strenuous. The length of it runs along the Jenkinson Lake where you can take a dip if you get too hot. The hike can also be done on horseback.
Every now and then, Placerville likes to get a little crafty with our annual Craft Faire. This year will be Placerville’s 17th annual Craft Faire and will take place on Sunday, August 11th from 8am to 3pm in Historic Downtown Placerville. Main Street will be closed to traffic during those hours to host over 100 artisans from all over the west. Crafts will include pottery, jewelry, woodwork, quilted and decorating items, dolls, garden items, soaps, candles, food and more. And if you happen to be an artisan yourself, it’s not too late to apply to be featured in the Craft Faire. You can download the application here: http://www.placerville-downtown.org/pdf/2013craftcontract.pdf
Otherwise, admission and parking are free. So whether you enjoy original artisan crafts, or have a craft of your own that you would like to display, there’s no better place to be than Historic Downtown Placerville and no better place to stay in the area than Edenvale Inn.
